The week-long (為期一周) Financial Media Institute (財經新聞研討班) opens in Hong Kong
The week-long workshop (研討班), organized by Hong Kong Baptist University, Fudan University and the US-China Education Trust, kicked off in Hong Kong on May 23. Victor Fung, director of the FMI, told participants (學員) the goals (目的) and expectations (期望) of the workshop and warned (警告) them to behave (表現) like journalists, i.e. treating deadlines seriously.
Mr Fung also introduced the 12 guest speakers who will lecture in the workshop, including Thomas Easton of the Economist magazine, Shai Oster of Bloomberg news, Charlie Zhu of Reuters and Justin Dear of AFP (the Paris-based news wire). Participants include 30 students and 10 journalists from the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The workshop on financial news reporting and writing skills ends on Friday, May 27.
Hey friends, do you know that HK Baptist University is going to offer an undergraduate degree program in financial journalism in 9.2012?
Take care,
Dean Fung (no envy and no fear!)
